Stephen List
years. Stephen has a B.A. in Music Education from Azusa Pacific University and an M.A. in Worship Leadership from Western Seminary. It was during his time at Azusa Pacific where he first met Don and Jill Hofer. He is experienced in leading Adult Choirs as well as Jr. High and High School choirs. Stephen has been a vocalist and featured soloist with the Gary Bonner Singers and in 2009 he directed a 60-voice combined choir
as the Portland East Metro Nazarene Churches celebrated their 100th
anniversary. He has participated in
five week-long conducting seminars. Stephen
is quoted as saying “It has been a dream
of mine to conduct a group like Voices
of Hope Choir. I relish the opportunity to come alongside your leadership team and lend my musical leadership to Voices of Hope Choir…My hope is that we can carry on their vision for Voices of Hope Choir and serve our community by bringing much needed funding and awareness to the great things that are happening in and around the Portland area.”
Stephen’s wife, Elizabeth is a Psychologist. They have 2 children and live in the Mount Scott area of Portland. Don Hofer

Arts at Western Christian High School in 1991-1992. Listed in Who’s Who
Among America’s Teachers in 1994, he was a
workshop leader for the Association of Christian Schools International
Teachers Convention in 1993 and 1994. He taught Private
Voice
and enjoyed a promising career in music ministry. His journey has
taken a slightly different path. Don spent 4 years in outside sales and
4 years as lead singer of The Crimson River Quartet. In 2005 he and his family relocated to the
Portland area where he worked in the
Insurance Industry. In June of 2010 he moved to Houston, Texas
where his wife became a staff member of Houston’s First Baptist Church.
Jill HoferPianist
- Jill began playing piano at age 3. She has a
B.A. in Music Education and Music Theory from
Miller, during
his tenure as conductor of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Jill has
been a private piano instructor for over 20 years. She has also
been the staff accompanist at several large churches in Southern
California and a sought-after guest accompanist. Jill is most recently
the
accompanist for Voices of Hope Choir and for Breath of Aire in
Seattle, WA. She spent 3 years as the Co- Director of Praise Bands and Choir
Director at Sunset Presbyterian Church and taught private piano. She is now Associate Director of Worship at
Houston’s First Baptist Church.
Don and Jill have 3 children.
Their oldest, Ashley, will be a freshman at California Baptist
University in Riverside, CA.
